Çankırı Karatekin University Vocational School of Food and Agriculture, Department of Forestry, Hunting and Wildlife Program first-year students participated in a field trip covering three different locations as part of their practical courses. The field trip was conducted under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sezgin, Dr. Seda Erkan Buğday (Assist. Prof.), and Dr. Ali Onur Sayar (Lecturer).
The first stop of the program was the forest depot affiliated with the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM). During the visit, theoretical and practical information was shared on the depot’s operations, stacking procedures, and measurement methods. Çankırı Forest Enterprise Chief Burak Çontar, together with forest rangers and depot officers, explained to the students how depot operations are carried out in the field.
The second stop was the Çankırı Forest Nursery Directorate. Accompanied by Çankırı Forest Nursery Chief Dilek Akkaya and nursery staff, students were informed about production planning, the working system, and production processes at the nursery. Within this scope, the production process of forest tree and ornamental plant seedlings and seeds—required for afforestation activities carried out in the OGM jurisdiction and surrounding regions, private-sector landscaping applications, and afforestation works of public institutions—was introduced to the students.
The final stop of the field trip took place around Kenbağı Nature Park. In this section, diameter measurement techniques used in tree mensuration were demonstrated in practice, and measurement instruments were introduced. In addition, students were informed about appropriate installation techniques for camera traps used in wildlife monitoring and the key considerations to be taken into account during implementation.
Through this field trip, it was aimed for students to observe professional practices on site, reinforce their theoretical knowledge in the field, and become familiar with institutional applications.
