Çankırı Karatekin University Vocational School of Food and Agriculture organized an informative event at Atatürk Middle School to raise awareness in society about medicinal and aromatic plants.
At the event titled “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Their Uses,” Lecturer Dr. Dilek AKIN from the Plant Protection Program of the Vocational School provided insights into the usage areas and health impacts of various parts of medicinal aromatic plants that are either collected from the wild or cultivated in Turkey and around the world.
Held in the school’s auditorium, the event especially emphasized the potential negative effects of unconscious or incorrect use of these plants. Students were reminded of the importance of consuming plants with consideration of their benefits and possible harms.
The event was attended by 5th and 6th grade students of Atatürk Middle School, offering them the opportunity to gain awareness of plants through both traditional knowledge and scientific facts.
Such educational activities aim to inform young individuals at an early age about health, nature, and conscious consumption.
